Heather Kerns Labenski
I’ve earned my Professional Knitting Instructor certification through the Craft Yarn Council of America at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and teach a wide variety of fiber classes in the greater Boston area.
I’m passionate about guiding knitters to success on their own terms, using clear visual and verbal examples. My students cite the depth of knowledge and ability to create a positive environment as keys to their knitting and crocheting success.
Here’s what students have said about my teaching:
[Heather] is also very quick to recognize the potential for expanding instructions for a particular technique from one student to the others at the knitting table. She clearly enjoys these teaching opportunities, which enrich the two hours for everyone.
A native New Englander, I’m also a soap maker (visit Mad Hatters’ Apothecary), accomplished musician, beekeeper, and wedding officiant. I live with my husband who loves hand knit socks and sweaters, and two Manx cats who absolutely refuse to wear sweaters.
